Why is it that most operate restricted opening hours compared with other take aways which seem to be open night and day

changing times i-spy, gone are the days when the Man brought home the bacon and the good wife cooked his dinner, Emily Pancake got things changed so now both ' partners' work and this allows a better quality of living and Mrs Duncooking phones deliveroo, This saves cooking and washing up.

Indeed it is, Eggbeater. It's too expensive for one person, never mind a family.

"Regular" size cod, chips and peas = £13.45.
"Regular" plaice on its own = £8.75
Large plaice on its own = £9.95

Pemberton Fish Bar is cheaper, and it's really good.

Large cod, chips and peas = £7.40

Pity there’s no cod in our meandering river. But I’ve heard trout is there for the catching. Don’t forget your permit

Eggbeater:

I know the one you mean, in Grosvenor Street, near Aldi. That is also a good one.

Tom:

The Pem Fish Bar is also Greek owned, and they've been there for many years now. Not sure what time it opens in the afternoon, but closes at 9 pm., closed on Sundays.

I think the chippy on Gerard Street in Ashton is Greek owned . A few years ago (THE signage has been changed now)the signage was in a wavy design and when you walked through the entry at the side of Tom &Gerrys at 1st glance it looked like Ashton Piss Bar instead of Ashton Fish Bar

I'm getting a bit of de ja vu as I'm sure we've talked about chippies before.

Anyway, my favourite, when I still worked full time, was Gidlow Lane Chippy. Not the one at the top, but Maureen’s further down. I’d nip down there for me din-dins from work, but I can no longer walk that far and back, and I don’t have a dinner break any longer as I start work at 1 p.m. so I’ve no idea of the prices these days, or opening hours. I think Maureen’s daughter continues to run it.

Ya know, av nor’ad any chips for a long while an’a could just ayte some. Think I’ll ger’a spud pilt and make some for me tay. Nowt like womsy made.

£14.50 for two decent sized fish and a large chips at the Vlora Fish Bar in Whelley and good value for money when you see the prices at some chippies!
